About Me

What is Bensdinner?

Bensdinner is me, Ben, it's my developer alias.

From a young age I've been obsessed with spaceflight, software and electronics. I often have a lot of projects on my plate at once.

I have two major ongoing flagship projects, my mobile game Manual Docking, and my YouTube channel Simply Space.

Manual Docking and Simply Space

FAQs

Q: Are these actually frequently asked?

A: Sometimes, but this is more of a frequently anticipated questions list.

Q: How do you make your animations for Simply Space?

A: I use a powerful open source 3D tool called Blender. I learnt to use Blender through YouTube tutorials, and experimentation. There's no shortcut, you need to be motivated to invest time and bang your head against a wall occasionally.

Q: How did you make Manual Docking?

A: I developed Manual Docking in the Unity game engine. I coded the physics and gameplay in C#, and the 3D assets were modelled in Blender. I highly recommend the YouTube channel Brackeys for Unity tutorials.

Q: Why is X level of Manual Docking impossible to finish?

A: I can assure you that every mission can be completed (I've done it, and so have others). However it's not an easy game, I made it to really challenge myself and fellow space nerds. Be patient, stay calm, watch your propellant level.

Q: What's your favourite spacecraft?

A: NASA's Space Shuttle Orbiters

Q: What's your favourite launch vehicle?

A: Saturn V
